[00:00:00] welcome to this premiere pro tutorial on

[00:00:00] keyframes i'm luisa winters

[00:00:00] let's start by opening the project named

[00:00:00] 06 keyframes included with your project

[00:00:00] files

[00:00:00] if you have not downloaded these please

[00:00:00] go ahead and do so now

[00:00:00] now that we have the project open let's

[00:00:00] switch to the captions and graphics

[00:00:00] workspace for this click on the

[00:00:00] workspace switcher button and choose

[00:00:00] captions and graphics

[00:00:00] if you are already on the captions and

[00:00:00] graphics workspace you can click on the

[00:00:00] button again and choose reset to saved

[00:00:00] layout

[00:00:00] in the timeline let's move the playhead

[00:00:00] to be on top of the title which is at

[00:00:00] the end of the program if you need to

[00:00:00] zoom to fit please go ahead and press

[00:00:00] the backslash key

[00:00:00] click on the title clip to select it and

[00:00:00] now look at the effect controls panel

[00:00:00] you will see some properties in here

[00:00:00] let's go to time code 4014 we can type

[00:00:00] these either in the timeline or right

[00:00:00] here in the effect controls panel click

[00:00:00] on the numbers and type 4014

[00:00:00] and press enter

[00:00:00] now twirl down the hashtag group and

[00:00:00] let's set a keyframe for position

[00:00:00] before we continue let's go over what a

[00:00:00] keyframe is

[00:00:00] a keyframe is a moment in time in which

[00:00:00] we tell premiere the value of a property

[00:00:00] then we move to a different point in

[00:00:00] time and change that value of the same

[00:00:00] property and premiere will interpolate

[00:00:00] between the two values that is premiere

[00:00:00] goes gradually from the first value to

[00:00:00] the second value

[00:00:00] in premiere pro we can set the first

[00:00:00] keyframe for any property by clicking on

[00:00:00] the stopwatch that exists to the left of

[00:00:00] the name of that property so for us to

[00:00:00] create a keyframe for the position of

[00:00:00] this group we need to find the position

[00:00:00] of the group

[00:00:00] and then we need to click on the

[00:00:00] stopwatch to the left of the word

[00:00:00] position

[00:00:00] now we will do the same for both text

[00:00:00] objects twirl down and click on the

[00:00:00] stopwatch to the left of the word

[00:00:00] position

[00:00:00] first for this layer

[00:00:00] and now for the last one

[00:00:00] now let's clean this display a little

[00:00:00] bit click on this icon here to tell

[00:00:00] premiere pro that we only want to see

[00:00:00] the properties that are keyframed

[00:00:00] this is a filter

[00:00:00] click here and choose to show only

[00:00:00] keyframed properties

[00:00:00] much more manageable now

[00:00:00] now that we have these keyframes here

[00:00:00] let's move the playhead to the start of

[00:00:00] the clip which is time code 3925

[00:00:00] now change the x position for each title

[00:00:00] so that they start outside of the screen

[00:00:00] you can adjust these values by scrubbing

[00:00:00] the numbers

[00:00:00] to scrub the numbers place your mouse

[00:00:00] cursor on top of the number and once it

[00:00:00] changes display to a pointy finger you

[00:00:00] can click and drag effectively changing

[00:00:00] the values and you can see the elements

[00:00:00] move on the program monitor panel

[00:00:00] now let's select all of the keyframes

[00:00:00] you can do a marquee select to select

[00:00:00] them

[00:00:00] now right click one of them and select

[00:00:00] temporal interpolation

[00:00:00] ease in

[00:00:00] ease in and ease out adjust the rate of

[00:00:00] which the interpolation occurs so we get

[00:00:00] an acceleration out of a keyframe or a

[00:00:00] deceleration into the keyframe

[00:00:00] what this does is make the interpolation

[00:00:00] a little bit more fluid and more natural

[00:00:00] looking

[00:00:00] also notice that the keyframes now look

[00:00:00] like hourglasses instead of diamonds

[00:00:00] now let's move the keyframes so that

[00:00:00] they start one first

[00:00:00] then the other and finally the third set

[00:00:00] for that let's click on the gray to

[00:00:00] deselect the keyframes

[00:00:00] and now click on this word position to

[00:00:00] select the keyframes

[00:00:00] we can now click and drag them to the

[00:00:00] right so that the interpolation starts

[00:00:00] later let's start with the top text then

[00:00:00] the middle and finally the group you can

[00:00:00] eyeball this

[00:00:00] let's move this one to here

[00:00:00] this other one here

[00:00:00] let's play the timeline so we see the

[00:00:00] animation

[00:00:00] [Music]

[00:00:00] pretty cool no

[00:00:00] i like it but i'd like for the top text

[00:00:00] to appear first so let's change the

[00:00:00] timing of these keyframes so that it

[00:00:00] happens that way

[00:00:00] [Music]

[00:00:00] now let's switch the filter back so that

[00:00:00] we see all of the properties

[00:00:00] click on the filter properties icon

[00:00:00] again and now choose show all properties

[00:00:00] this brings us to the end of this video

[00:00:00] about keyframes in premiere pro i'm

[00:00:00] luisa winters thank you for watching and

[00:00:00] see you next time
