[00:00:00] once you've animated with text animators

[00:00:00] I think you'll notice that animating

[00:00:00] with shape layers is strikingly similar

[00:00:00] in this video we're going to learn how

[00:00:00] to create Dynamic graphics and in order

[00:00:00] to do that we need to master how to

[00:00:00] animate both text and shape layers so

[00:00:00] let's dive

[00:00:00] in all right so if we look at our

[00:00:00] project I want to start in the project

[00:00:00] panel if you double click on the cold

[00:00:00] plunge composition in the project panel

[00:00:00] that'll open it down here in the

[00:00:00] timeline and you'll notice I have three

[00:00:00] layers that make up this composition I'm

[00:00:00] going to scrub on the current time

[00:00:00] indicator so you can see that I've got

[00:00:00] this logo here called drip drip is a

[00:00:00] sports drink company and we're going to

[00:00:00] be creating a graphics package for a

[00:00:00] little series they're going to do on

[00:00:00] social media about the positive effects

[00:00:00] of a cold plch so we need to create a

[00:00:00] title graphic and we need to create a

[00:00:00] lower third

[00:00:00] so when they interview people we can put

[00:00:00] their names up and we need to create a

[00:00:00] template for a an infographic and the

[00:00:00] infographic we don't have specific

[00:00:00] information yet so it just needs to be

[00:00:00] generic and once we actually get the

[00:00:00] information we can fill that out a

[00:00:00] little bit later now I know that sounds

[00:00:00] like a lot of things that we're creating

[00:00:00] but honestly once we create a couple of

[00:00:00] elements for this title card we'll be

[00:00:00] able to reuse those elements for the

[00:00:00] other animations and Graphics so let's

[00:00:00] get started I'm going to click on cold

[00:00:00] plunge here and I want to use this as

[00:00:00] the starting point for the other

[00:00:00] Graphics as well so I'll select this

[00:00:00] cold plunge comp and press command D not

[00:00:00] once but twice if you're on Windows you

[00:00:00] want to press controll D and we'll

[00:00:00] rename each one of these so for the

[00:00:00] first one let's do cold plunge

[00:00:00] dhino and for the next one we could do

[00:00:00] cold plunge

[00:00:00] D3 and then for the last one we'll do

[00:00:00] cold plunge Das title so if I double

[00:00:00] click I want to make sure I'm in the

[00:00:00] cold plunge title composition make sure

[00:00:00] you double click and you're seeing that

[00:00:00] name here in the timeline now if we look

[00:00:00] at what we've already built there is a

[00:00:00] corner logo

[00:00:00] composition and there is an adjustment

[00:00:00] layer if I turn that off and on you can

[00:00:00] see it's definitely warmed up the shot

[00:00:00] and we have our ice plunge video which

[00:00:00] has actually been

[00:00:00] retimed and I accidentally double

[00:00:00] clicked on that so it opened in the

[00:00:00] layers panel this happens quite often so

[00:00:00] just go ahead and close that panel to

[00:00:00] make sure you're back in the

[00:00:00] composition all right so I want to add

[00:00:00] some other Graphics into the scene one

[00:00:00] thing I want to do is add a graphic

[00:00:00] element along with our text so the text

[00:00:00] needs to say cold plug

[00:00:00] and the other graphic I want to create

[00:00:00] is something that gives the idea of

[00:00:00] being cold or chilly so what I thought

[00:00:00] would make the most sense would be a

[00:00:00] snowflake icon now I know this isn't

[00:00:00] After Effects but I still want to show

[00:00:00] you if you go into illustrator and just

[00:00:00] use one of the presets for video I use

[00:00:00] the HD preset and you just draw a simple

[00:00:00] Square when you do that you can generate

[00:00:00] vectors and so if I click on that I

[00:00:00] could simply type out simple white

[00:00:00] outline snowflake monochrome and when I

[00:00:00] click generate it's going to give me

[00:00:00] multiple versions so once I get a

[00:00:00] version I like I can just move that to

[00:00:00] the middle of my illustrator file and

[00:00:00] save it so if we go back into After

[00:00:00] Effects here you'll notice in my

[00:00:00] pre-built Graphics I have my snowflake.

[00:00:00] a file and yes it's only 1920 x 1080 but

[00:00:00] since it's an illustrator file it's

[00:00:00] vector-based so I'll be able to scale

[00:00:00] that up as much as I

[00:00:00] want there's also a pre-rendered graphic

[00:00:00] of a 3D can for our drink and we just

[00:00:00] want this to kind of subtly flicker in

[00:00:00] the background at different times so

[00:00:00] we're not going to add this into our

[00:00:00] project until pretty much the end of the

[00:00:00] title

[00:00:00] sequence this is the original end tag

[00:00:00] and then the composition I used to make

[00:00:00] it trans

[00:00:00] transparent all right oh yes under video

[00:00:00] sources yeah we have the original ice

[00:00:00] plunge all right so uh we're in the

[00:00:00] title composition let's start by adding

[00:00:00] our text I'll go up to the tools panel

[00:00:00] and grab my text tool and I want to make

[00:00:00] this text Center dominant and I'll scrub

[00:00:00] in the timeline so I can see what I'm

[00:00:00] working with and yes the title is going

[00:00:00] to end up going directly over our talent

[00:00:00] face but we're not going to make it very

[00:00:00] intrusive because we'll add a little bit

[00:00:00] of a blur to blur out the background as

[00:00:00] we add cold plunge because I think

[00:00:00] everybody can kind of figure out that

[00:00:00] this is a person that is in a cold

[00:00:00] plunge tub so I'll move my current time

[00:00:00] indicator back to the beginning of the

[00:00:00] timeline and I'll just click in the

[00:00:00] middle of our composition panel you can

[00:00:00] just eyeball where the middle might be

[00:00:00] and the font that I'm going to choose is

[00:00:00] Gil sand Nova this is an adobe font if

[00:00:00] you click on the drop down here you can

[00:00:00] say add Adobe fonts and search for

[00:00:00] giland um giland Nova specifically and

[00:00:00] activate that font in Creative Cloud

[00:00:00] okay so I like that I'm going to go

[00:00:00] ahead and start typing uh let's type

[00:00:00] cold not old cold and then I'll press

[00:00:00] return Plunge

[00:00:00] okay and when I grab my selection tool

[00:00:00] here that will set the type now this was

[00:00:00] already Center Justified if yours was

[00:00:00] not just scroll down here in the

[00:00:00] properties panel and you can get to the

[00:00:00] paragraph options there I could center

[00:00:00] justify it here I can adjust my text

[00:00:00] settings so if I want my text to be

[00:00:00] larger I can make it larger in fact I'm

[00:00:00] going to make it like 150 just a little

[00:00:00] larger and I want the word cold to be

[00:00:00] dominant so I'm going to double click

[00:00:00] over top of my text and then I'll just

[00:00:00] click and drag the top line of type and

[00:00:00] I'll come over to my point size in the

[00:00:00] text panel and I'll scrub up until the

[00:00:00] word cold is pretty much the same width

[00:00:00] as the word plunge and now I can grab my

[00:00:00] selection tool and that is set for the

[00:00:00] size of my type face which is exactly

[00:00:00] what I like and uh don't worry we'll

[00:00:00] animate this here in a little bit but I

[00:00:00] need to create a framing convention for

[00:00:00] this so it's a little bit more prominent

[00:00:00] in the scene so I'm going to go down to

[00:00:00] the bottom of the timeline panel and

[00:00:00] click in the empty area to deselect then

[00:00:00] I'll go up to my create tools now you

[00:00:00] may see the rectangle tool you may not

[00:00:00] but if you click and hold on whatever

[00:00:00] the tool may be that's there uh you can

[00:00:00] select the rectangle tool so here I'm

[00:00:00] just going to draw a rectangle kind of

[00:00:00] like so and and I'll draw it down a

[00:00:00] little lower so that I have room to add

[00:00:00] a snowflake

[00:00:00] underneath now if yours doesn't look

[00:00:00] like this don't panic because I've

[00:00:00] created a shape layer I know it's a

[00:00:00] shape layer because when I hover my

[00:00:00] mouse over the composition panel I get

[00:00:00] the little star

[00:00:00] icon once the rectangle create tool is

[00:00:00] selected I get an option for a fill and

[00:00:00] a stroke and I like the white stroke but

[00:00:00] I do want to add a fill if you hold down

[00:00:00] alt or option on your keyboard and click

[00:00:00] on the no fill option here it'll cycle

[00:00:00] through all the different options there

[00:00:00] I want a gradient fill

[00:00:00] option to make adjustments to this I'm

[00:00:00] going to select layer one and I'll press

[00:00:00] uu on my keyboard uu will show you or

[00:00:00] reveal any properties that you've

[00:00:00] already made changes to and since I

[00:00:00] haven't made a change to the gradient it

[00:00:00] didn't pop that up so I'll close

[00:00:00] rectangle one and open it up and I don't

[00:00:00] need to adjust the size of the path or

[00:00:00] the stroke I need to adjust the gradient

[00:00:00] fill so I'll open that up here and I

[00:00:00] want the start point to be at 100 on the

[00:00:00] X and the end point to be at 100 on the

[00:00:00] X and then I'll scrub here on the Y

[00:00:00] property for the start point and I'll

[00:00:00] just scrub until I have a nice gradient

[00:00:00] down like this and now I want to edit

[00:00:00] the colors so if I go down here under

[00:00:00] colors I can click edit gradient and for

[00:00:00] the white I want to choose kind of a hot

[00:00:00] pink color so I'll choose that and then

[00:00:00] for the black I want to choose like a

[00:00:00] nice ice blue and I'll click okay so

[00:00:00] this looks pretty good but I want to

[00:00:00] bring the opacity down so that we can

[00:00:00] see what's going on underneath and then

[00:00:00] I'll reposition this shape layer

[00:00:00] underneath my cold plch type by grabbing

[00:00:00] the cold plch text

[00:00:00] and bringing it up to the top of my

[00:00:00] layer stack okay so far we've created a

[00:00:00] shape we've added a gradient in that

[00:00:00] shape and we've adjusted the

[00:00:00] transparency of just the fill not the

[00:00:00] stroke now let's add the snowflake let's

[00:00:00] go to the project panel and here under

[00:00:00] pre-built Graphics I'm going to drag the

[00:00:00] Snowflake and drop it towards the middle

[00:00:00] of the scene and thankfully I dropped it

[00:00:00] pretty close

[00:00:00] if I select layer one and go over to the

[00:00:00] properties panel here I can adjust the

[00:00:00] position simply by dragging and I can

[00:00:00] adjust the scale up over 100% because

[00:00:00] this is vector-based but in order to

[00:00:00] make sure it stays Vector I need to go

[00:00:00] down and toggle my switches and modes

[00:00:00] and enable continuously rasterize in the

[00:00:00] timeline now this is going to stay nice

[00:00:00] and sharp in the

[00:00:00] scene now that we have all the elements

[00:00:00] in the scene that I want to add at the

[00:00:00] moment let's work on creating timing in

[00:00:00] order to time this out I'm going to

[00:00:00] scrub my current time indicator back and

[00:00:00] forth as I'm working and basically I

[00:00:00] want the video to start to blur out

[00:00:00] between three and 4

[00:00:00] seconds and then I want these Graphics

[00:00:00] to start animating in at that point so

[00:00:00] I'm going to select layers one through

[00:00:00] layers three and I'll hold down the

[00:00:00] option key on the Mac or alt on Windows

[00:00:00] and I'll press left bracket and that

[00:00:00] will trim the endpoint of any selected

[00:00:00] layers okay so now those layers are not

[00:00:00] visible and

[00:00:00] here between three and four or two and

[00:00:00] four this is where I want the blur to

[00:00:00] start to happen so I'm going to go down

[00:00:00] to my adjustment layer that we have here

[00:00:00] which is below our logo because I want

[00:00:00] to make sure I'm not blurring the logo

[00:00:00] with my adjustment layer selected I'm

[00:00:00] going to go to my effect controls and I

[00:00:00] can see I have color correction I can go

[00:00:00] ahead and close that I'm going to add a

[00:00:00] blur after the color correction so if we

[00:00:00] go up under effects we can go down to

[00:00:00] blur or blur and sharpen and I'm going

[00:00:00] to choose

[00:00:00] the camera lens blur so with camera lens

[00:00:00] blur selected I'll change the blur

[00:00:00] radius to zero and add a key frame and

[00:00:00] then I'll move to around 3 and 1/2 which

[00:00:00] is 3 seconds 13 frames 3 seconds 12

[00:00:00] frames would have been fine too and I'll

[00:00:00] just scrub on the blur radius till I get

[00:00:00] something that I think I like and to me

[00:00:00] that's around 48 and then you can see I

[00:00:00] have a nice blur and then we have our

[00:00:00] cold plunge that's going to animate into

[00:00:00] the scene so let's clean things up a

[00:00:00] little bit I want to rename shape layer

[00:00:00] one a name that will actually notate

[00:00:00] what is contained within that layer so

[00:00:00] select shave layer one layer three and

[00:00:00] press for turn and let's call this CP

[00:00:00] rectangle now before I start animating I

[00:00:00] like to make note of where my current

[00:00:00] time indicator is which is 5 Seconds and

[00:00:00] this is where I want the snowflake to

[00:00:00] resolve so I'm going to leave my current

[00:00:00] time indicator right here and I want to

[00:00:00] focus on animating the snowflake so

[00:00:00] let's turn the visibilities of layers 2

[00:00:00] and three off by clicking on their

[00:00:00] eyeballs and then we can select

[00:00:00] snowflake. a and in order to create the

[00:00:00] animation that I desire I need to make

[00:00:00] multiple copies of this snowflake so to

[00:00:00] do that I need to convert this

[00:00:00] illustrator layer so with layer one

[00:00:00] selected go up under the layer menu go

[00:00:00] down to create and choose create shapes

[00:00:00] from vector layer notice that turns off

[00:00:00] the illustrator layer and creates a new

[00:00:00] layer called snowflake

[00:00:00] outlines if we open up the options for

[00:00:00] layer one notice I have two sets I have

[00:00:00] contents and transform and on the right

[00:00:00] of contents way over here I have the add

[00:00:00] button if I open up my text options here

[00:00:00] notice I have two options text and

[00:00:00] transform and you guessed it all the way

[00:00:00] to the right of the first option I also

[00:00:00] have a fly out button and this one is

[00:00:00] for animate now I'll go ahead and close

[00:00:00] my text layer and I just wanted you to

[00:00:00] understand the similarities between

[00:00:00] these two kinds of layers because once

[00:00:00] you learn how to work with one working

[00:00:00] with the other is somewhat similar so

[00:00:00] under the contents add button I'll click

[00:00:00] on that and I want to add a repeater so

[00:00:00] I can have multiple copies of the

[00:00:00] snowflake now I need to open the

[00:00:00] repeater options here in the timeline

[00:00:00] and specify how many copies I'll choose

[00:00:00] five and then open up the options for

[00:00:00] transform repeater one make sure you're

[00:00:00] not under just transform you want to

[00:00:00] make sure you're in transform repeater

[00:00:00] one

[00:00:00] the default setting has each copy move

[00:00:00] 100 pixels on the xaxis let's reset that

[00:00:00] setting to zero and then scrub on the Y

[00:00:00] property for position until the

[00:00:00] snowflakes fan out vertically above the

[00:00:00] other

[00:00:00] snowflake so this is roughly where I

[00:00:00] want the animation to stop uh when this

[00:00:00] snowflake resolves itself into the scene

[00:00:00] so how do I actually move all of these

[00:00:00] snowflakes well if I close close my

[00:00:00] transform options for repeater one and

[00:00:00] just scroll up here a little bit notice

[00:00:00] I have copies here and then I have

[00:00:00] offset if I scrub on the offset property

[00:00:00] notice I can actually have these

[00:00:00] go offset up and down in the

[00:00:00] viewer notice when I scrub on this I can

[00:00:00] have these move up and down across the

[00:00:00] composition panel so I want to add a key

[00:00:00] frame here because this is where I want

[00:00:00] the animation to stop and I want it to

[00:00:00] start around 4 seconds so I'll move back

[00:00:00] to 4 seconds in the timeline and I'll

[00:00:00] just make sure my offset is going up

[00:00:00] instead of down and I can set it at five

[00:00:00] so now when I scrub up through you can

[00:00:00] see it's going down here and let's go

[00:00:00] ahead and move the current time

[00:00:00] indicator in front of those two key

[00:00:00] frames here in the timeline and then

[00:00:00] press the space bar just to get a

[00:00:00] preview of those snowflakes falling into

[00:00:00] the scene

[00:00:00] now that seemed a little slow so I'm

[00:00:00] going to go ahead and move the rightmost

[00:00:00] key frame to about 412 or 415 I'll do

[00:00:00] 413 in the scene so they're going to

[00:00:00] come down here and stop and then I want

[00:00:00] each one of these copies to fade out and

[00:00:00] to do that all I need to do is just

[00:00:00] animate the number of copies down to one

[00:00:00] copy so here I want that animation to

[00:00:00] start once the offset has stopped so

[00:00:00] I'll move to the rightmost key frame for

[00:00:00] offset and I'll add a key frame for

[00:00:00] copies and then I can move the current

[00:00:00] time indicator down to about 5 seconds

[00:00:00] in the timeline and simply change the

[00:00:00] number of copies from five to

[00:00:00] one and now if I scrub through the

[00:00:00] animation here you can see I've got the

[00:00:00] snowflakes coming down and then each one

[00:00:00] Fades out so this is when I want the

[00:00:00] rectangle to start drawing into the

[00:00:00] scene

[00:00:00] so let's go ahead and select layer one

[00:00:00] and press the U key if you press it once

[00:00:00] it'll show you any animated properties

[00:00:00] if you press it twice it'll go ahead and

[00:00:00] collapse the layer so just press it once

[00:00:00] so we can see the key frames that we're

[00:00:00] working with then I want you to select

[00:00:00] layer 4 which is the CP rectangle layer

[00:00:00] and turn its visibility on if we open up

[00:00:00] its options notice we have a bunch of

[00:00:00] things with in rectangle one I'm going

[00:00:00] to collapse gradient fill here and the

[00:00:00] transform options for rectangle one and

[00:00:00] I'll just make sure that I have

[00:00:00] rectangle one selected and what I want

[00:00:00] to do is have this line actually draw

[00:00:00] into the scene and then I want the

[00:00:00] gradient to fade into the scene so if I

[00:00:00] open up my gradient fill options I can

[00:00:00] simply change the opacity down to a

[00:00:00] setting of zero now I can focus on the

[00:00:00] stroke if I go to the add button here I

[00:00:00] can add a trim paths

[00:00:00] function now just so you can see the

[00:00:00] entire panel I'll doubleclick on the tab

[00:00:00] for the panel in the timeline and that

[00:00:00] will maximize this panel in the scene so

[00:00:00] now if I go to add I can go ahead and

[00:00:00] choose trim paths and with the trim

[00:00:00] paths I want to make sure it's trimming

[00:00:00] the stroke and if I open up its options

[00:00:00] here and double click on the tab to

[00:00:00] reveal

[00:00:00] everything uh all the other panels again

[00:00:00] I can scrub on the end property here and

[00:00:00] you can see exactly how this is going to

[00:00:00] start animating into the

[00:00:00] scene so I kind of like this I'm going

[00:00:00] to start it at zero and I'll add a key

[00:00:00] frame to the end property I'll actually

[00:00:00] move about a half a second down the

[00:00:00] timeline to around

[00:00:00] 5:13 and then I can change the end

[00:00:00] property up to 100 so let's go move the

[00:00:00] current time indicator to about 4

[00:00:00] seconds and press the space bar to load

[00:00:00] up those frames and you can see I've got

[00:00:00] the line drawing in the scene and you

[00:00:00] want to make sure that second key frame

[00:00:00] actually goes all the way to 100% so

[00:00:00] it's all the way around and now I can

[00:00:00] animate the fade of the gradient fill so

[00:00:00] if I select layer 4 and press the U key

[00:00:00] that'll show me the end property but if

[00:00:00] if I Collapse and open the layer here I

[00:00:00] can scrub down to the gradient fill and

[00:00:00] adjust the opacity so I want it to start

[00:00:00] fading in here at 513 so I'll add a key

[00:00:00] frame and then I'll just move to about 6

[00:00:00] seconds in the timeline and increase the

[00:00:00] opacity to I don't know let's say 54%

[00:00:00] that way we can still see what's going

[00:00:00] on in the

[00:00:00] background so let's move back a little

[00:00:00] bit in the timeline and press the space

[00:00:00] bar to preview you can see we've already

[00:00:00] got the start of our animation now all

[00:00:00] we need to do is just animate the two

[00:00:00] words into the

[00:00:00] scene let's go back up and turn on the

[00:00:00] cold plunge text layer I'll also go

[00:00:00] ahead and just select layer three so

[00:00:00] that's the only layer selected I want to

[00:00:00] draw your attention to the fact that the

[00:00:00] properties panel gives me the ability to

[00:00:00] actually add a text animator if you

[00:00:00] scroll down through all the different

[00:00:00] panels at the bottom there is a plus

[00:00:00] button to add an animator if you want to

[00:00:00] create your text animations from scratch

[00:00:00] since we know we have some really good

[00:00:00] effects and presets we can work with

[00:00:00] I'll just scroll back up in my

[00:00:00] properties panel and then click on the

[00:00:00] effects and presets panel in here under

[00:00:00] animation presets I'm going to go to the

[00:00:00] presets under text and I want to create

[00:00:00] an animation in so let's go to animate

[00:00:00] in and in here let's have words actually

[00:00:00] I don't know buzzword no slide in let's

[00:00:00] see slow fade on since my current time

[00:00:00] indicator is at 617 if I double click on

[00:00:00] this preset it's going to start the

[00:00:00] animation right there at that frame so

[00:00:00] I'll go ahead and double click on slow

[00:00:00] fade on and now that's been applied and

[00:00:00] with layer three selected here at the

[00:00:00] Timeline again I can hold down I option

[00:00:00] and press left bracket or alt left

[00:00:00] bracket if you're on

[00:00:00] Windows now if I press the U key I can

[00:00:00] see the animation that's going to come

[00:00:00] up as you can see my text is going to

[00:00:00] fade into the scene so let's move our

[00:00:00] current time indicator back to frame

[00:00:00] zero and press the space bar so we can

[00:00:00] preview our animation

[00:00:00] now I love the cold plunge animation but

[00:00:00] I do want the text to animate in just a

[00:00:00] little more quickly and to start sooner

[00:00:00] so first thing I'll do is just drag the

[00:00:00] layer over to the left and I'll look in

[00:00:00] the info panel and I want it to start

[00:00:00] right around 6

[00:00:00] seconds and then I'll extend the

[00:00:00] duration of that layer so let's see yeah

[00:00:00] it's going to start a little bit sooner

[00:00:00] so now if I preview this you can see uh

[00:00:00] it's loading some frames so it's going

[00:00:00] to take a second before it Cycles back

[00:00:00] but I'll just go ahead and click up here

[00:00:00] again and press the space bar to

[00:00:00] preview that looks a lot

[00:00:00] better okay so now that we've created

[00:00:00] our title animation we can utilize some

[00:00:00] of these parts of the animations to

[00:00:00] recreate a lower third graphic I'm going

[00:00:00] to go ahead and press the space bar to

[00:00:00] stop playback and I'll go to the project

[00:00:00] panel and double click to open the cold

[00:00:00] plunge third

[00:00:00] composition so I'll go to the cold

[00:00:00] plunge title and decide what it is I

[00:00:00] want to move across so I definitely want

[00:00:00] to move across the title itself with the

[00:00:00] animated rectangle and text and the

[00:00:00] snowflakes so I'll just select layers 4

[00:00:00] through one and I can copy

[00:00:00] those if I come over here I can select

[00:00:00] layer one

[00:00:00] and I'll press command V to paste and

[00:00:00] all those elements are going to paste in

[00:00:00] place and I want them all to actually

[00:00:00] start at the beginning of the timeline

[00:00:00] so we'll start over here

[00:00:00] and let's first deal with the snowflake

[00:00:00] I don't necessarily need that animation

[00:00:00] of the snowflake so I'll delete layer 4

[00:00:00] just to get rid of that and then I'll

[00:00:00] just turn on the snowflake layer so I

[00:00:00] have it as a graphic element I'm also

[00:00:00] going to enable title and action safe

[00:00:00] just by clicking on this button here and

[00:00:00] choosing title and action safe and you

[00:00:00] may be wondering why I'm not seeing any

[00:00:00] of the handles here that's because in my

[00:00:00] view options I still have handles turned

[00:00:00] off if I turn them on my scene would

[00:00:00] look something like

[00:00:00] this all right so let's go ahead and

[00:00:00] move the lower third animation I don't

[00:00:00] need the corner logo so I'll just turn

[00:00:00] that off and and for the CP rectangle

[00:00:00] I'll move that below the cold plunge so

[00:00:00] that it's not washing out the text

[00:00:00] itself and I want to move the snowflake

[00:00:00] on top of the rectangle and I want to

[00:00:00] resize the rectangle so if I select that

[00:00:00] shape layer and I press uu in Rapid

[00:00:00] succession notice I can change the size

[00:00:00] of the rectangle path so I'll just go

[00:00:00] ahead and unlock the X and Y properties

[00:00:00] and I'll scrub on the X property and

[00:00:00] I'll hold down shift as I scrub and I

[00:00:00] want this to be a decent size lower

[00:00:00] third and I want the size to be a little

[00:00:00] more narrow so I'll go ahead and make it

[00:00:00] more narrow like so and I definitely

[00:00:00] need to adjust the gradient start point

[00:00:00] and endpoint positions so I'll select my

[00:00:00] gradient fill and close it and open it

[00:00:00] so I can see everything here and maybe I

[00:00:00] just need to move the end point up

[00:00:00] notice when I start sliding I can see a

[00:00:00] graphic representation of each of these

[00:00:00] points so I'm going to move this top one

[00:00:00] up and I'll just hold down shift as I'm

[00:00:00] doing that to snap it along the Y

[00:00:00] AIS and so now I have a nice gradient

[00:00:00] back here I can go ahead and reposition

[00:00:00] this shape layer just by selecting it

[00:00:00] like so and then grabbing it and moving

[00:00:00] it over here to create kind of a lower

[00:00:00] third now it's a little wide so make it

[00:00:00] a little smaller on the A and I'll just

[00:00:00] move it over like so and I'm sort of

[00:00:00] positioning it here on this safety line

[00:00:00] and I can grab my snowflake and position

[00:00:00] that over here on the left hand side for

[00:00:00] my graphic and my cold plunge text I can

[00:00:00] simply just drag that and place it down

[00:00:00] here to be my text for my lower third

[00:00:00] now for my cold plunge text I think it's

[00:00:00] a little up no I can just reposition it

[00:00:00] and it looks good but I could just press

[00:00:00] s When selecting that layer and I could

[00:00:00] scale it down just a little bit so it's

[00:00:00] not quite so um so large in the frame so

[00:00:00] now if I press the space bar you see

[00:00:00] I've got a lower third that kind of

[00:00:00] animates in from the right and then my

[00:00:00] text actually comes in all I need to do

[00:00:00] is animate the fade of the snowflake so

[00:00:00] so I'll have the snowflake fade in after

[00:00:00] the rectangle draws on so let me select

[00:00:00] layer three and press the U key not once

[00:00:00] but twice and I'll simply slide those

[00:00:00] key frames so that it starts a little

[00:00:00] bit earlier in the

[00:00:00] timeline and say right about here after

[00:00:00] the line fades in is where I want the

[00:00:00] snowflake to start to fade in so I'm

[00:00:00] going to go ahead and select the

[00:00:00] snowflake layer and I'll hold down op on

[00:00:00] the Mac or alt on Windows and press the

[00:00:00] left bracket key to trim the start point

[00:00:00] of that layer then I can press T to open

[00:00:00] the opacity setting and I'll just click

[00:00:00] once on the stopwatch to add a key frame

[00:00:00] and I'll just slide that key frame down

[00:00:00] the timeline and as I'm sliding it I can

[00:00:00] hold down shift and it'll snap to any

[00:00:00] other visible key frames now I can

[00:00:00] change the opacity down to zero and if I

[00:00:00] go back to the beginning and press my

[00:00:00] space bar you can see I've got the lower

[00:00:00] third animating in and my text is

[00:00:00] animating in kind of late so I'll select

[00:00:00] my text layer and slide it to start kind

[00:00:00] of at the end of those other key frames

[00:00:00] there we go and then I'll just extend

[00:00:00] the duration of these layers so nothing

[00:00:00] gets cut off in the composition and we

[00:00:00] have a really long time for our lower

[00:00:00] third so now that we've created a lower

[00:00:00] third let's go ahead and create our

[00:00:00] infographics since it's going to have a

[00:00:00] similar look and feel I'm going to go

[00:00:00] ahead and copy these three layers by

[00:00:00] selecting all of them and I can go ahead

[00:00:00] and just copy using the traditional

[00:00:00] keyboard shortcut and if we double click

[00:00:00] to open the cold plunge info panel or

[00:00:00] info composition I can move my current

[00:00:00] time indicator back to the beginning

[00:00:00] select layer one and paste all those

[00:00:00] layers that I just copied now I selected

[00:00:00] the layers in a different order so I

[00:00:00] need to reorganize the layers so that

[00:00:00] they are properly popping up and down I

[00:00:00] don't need the corner logo so I can go

[00:00:00] ahead and turn that off and all I need

[00:00:00] to do is make this rectangle larger so

[00:00:00] we can have something that resembles a

[00:00:00] place for additional text so I'll press

[00:00:00] the U key or I'll press

[00:00:00] uu and change the size of our rectangle

[00:00:00] hold down shift as I scrub on the Y

[00:00:00] property and then I can simply just move

[00:00:00] that rectangle like so in the

[00:00:00] composition and I can turn on my title

[00:00:00] and action safe so I can generally see

[00:00:00] whether this is centered in the

[00:00:00] scene and let's have cold plunge up at

[00:00:00] the top in the center so I'll just go

[00:00:00] ahead and drag that up top top Center

[00:00:00] and even in this panel I can go to my

[00:00:00] view options and turn on my handles and

[00:00:00] I can see the handles on the words so

[00:00:00] now I know that they're actually

[00:00:00] centered and I want to Center the

[00:00:00] snowflake in the bottom center of this

[00:00:00] info panel so I'll select my snowflake

[00:00:00] here and just move it kind of in the

[00:00:00] bottom center like so maybe not quite so

[00:00:00] close there we go and now all we need to

[00:00:00] do is just add additional lines of type

[00:00:00] so I'll grab my text tool and with my

[00:00:00] text tool selected I can just hover in

[00:00:00] the composition panel and I'm actually

[00:00:00] going to hover over here on the left

[00:00:00] side and I'll press option 8 or alt8 to

[00:00:00] create a bullet point and we'll just say

[00:00:00] has many medical

[00:00:00] benefits and I'll grab my selection tool

[00:00:00] and obviously that type is way too big

[00:00:00] so I'll go ahead and change it to

[00:00:00] something like

[00:00:00] 100 and I want the text to be left

[00:00:00] Justified so I can go ahead and just

[00:00:00] grab that there we go and actually you

[00:00:00] know rather than putting in something

[00:00:00] false I can just say um bullet point

[00:00:00] here

[00:00:00] option8

[00:00:00] additional info

[00:00:00] here option

[00:00:00] eight and I can just copy these

[00:00:00] lines and paste

[00:00:00] them to have additional information

[00:00:00] panels okay so if your text isn't all

[00:00:00] caps I want you to know if you go to the

[00:00:00] text options here there is an option for

[00:00:00] all caps if I turn that off you can see

[00:00:00] I have upper and lower and I think

[00:00:00] that's actually a little bit more

[00:00:00] legible in this instance so I'm going to

[00:00:00] go ahead and use this and I'll just

[00:00:00] position it like so now obviously if I

[00:00:00] had longer lines of type I would need to

[00:00:00] reposition the text but for this text I

[00:00:00] want to have an example of the animation

[00:00:00] so I'll have everything animate into the

[00:00:00] scene and I want my additional bullet

[00:00:00] points to start coming up around 2 and

[00:00:00] 1/2 seconds so at

[00:00:00] 2113 with layer one selected I'll hold

[00:00:00] down option on the Mac alt on Windows

[00:00:00] and press left bracket to trim the

[00:00:00] endpoint and I'll go back to my effects

[00:00:00] and presets panel and in here I want

[00:00:00] things to actually come in straight in

[00:00:00] multiline so let's just drag that and

[00:00:00] drop it directly on the text that I had

[00:00:00] here and we can see exactly how it's

[00:00:00] going to come across and you can see

[00:00:00] it's coming across but I might need to

[00:00:00] add a fade or make the distance traveled

[00:00:00] a little larger so I'll select layer one

[00:00:00] and I'll press the U key and that'll

[00:00:00] just show me my range selection which is

[00:00:00] the speed of the animation but if I

[00:00:00] press uu I can see anything that's been

[00:00:00] changed so notice the position is

[00:00:00] 574 pixels I'll go ahead and just scrub

[00:00:00] that right off the side over here and in

[00:00:00] addition to position I want to add

[00:00:00] something to this animator so if I go to

[00:00:00] animator one notice I'm not going up

[00:00:00] here to text where it says animate going

[00:00:00] to animator one and I'm going to choose

[00:00:00] to add an opacity setting so here if I

[00:00:00] change the opacity setting to zero now

[00:00:00] as the text slides it's actually going

[00:00:00] to start at zero and then as each

[00:00:00] different line is des selected it will

[00:00:00] go back to its natural position and

[00:00:00] opacity so there we go now I have an

[00:00:00] animation for this now obviously if I

[00:00:00] were trying to drop this over top of

[00:00:00] other video inside of Premiere say for

[00:00:00] example I would want to select my ice

[00:00:00] plunge layer and just control click or

[00:00:00] right click on that layer and you can

[00:00:00] make it a guide layer which means this

[00:00:00] layer will be transparent if you drop

[00:00:00] this composition over something else so

[00:00:00] any video would look good underneath of

[00:00:00] this and we have our animated

[00:00:00] infographic so as you can see once you

[00:00:00] understand how to actually animate text

[00:00:00] inside of After Effects a lot of those

[00:00:00] same techniques apply to how to animate

[00:00:00] shape

[00:00:00] layers and then once you've created the

[00:00:00] initial animations for your different

[00:00:00] elements it's as easy as copying and

[00:00:00] pasting those layers and just adjusting

[00:00:00] some of the main properties of those

[00:00:00] elements in order to create all the

[00:00:00] different various Graphics that you

[00:00:00] might need to use
